Behold, thou who hath lingered in the shadowed veil, the hour thou hast evaded now beckons thee forth, to behold the mortal light ere thy final descent. Thou, nourished by the bosom of chaos and the teeming maw of destruction, thy time hath ripened, and by the edge of my blade shalt thou meet thy reckoning.
Woe unto the vanquished, for in the embrace of death doth await thy desolation, and the annihilation of both flesh and spirit, unto thee and thy legions. Vae victis, I command, for Invictus am I, sovereign over the domains of fate. With relentless fervor, I shall tread upon thy lands, relentless in conquest, unyielding in dominion.

Ninurta for some Marduk for others
Asag  for some Tiamat for others
This is a remastered version of an illustration I originally created in 2012 (previously called "The chaotic batle between Marduk and Tiamat"), which gained some attention online. I noticed that it has often been used in articles discussing the Babylonian epic Enuma Elish, where Marduk faces the dragon mother Tiamat in a final battle. This confrontation marks the end of one era and the birth of a new cosmic age under Marduk’s reign.
